Metro-North train collides with car in Bedford Hills
A Metro-North train hit a car on Wednesday evening missing the driver by seconds.
The driver told MTA police that he thought he was turning onto the parkway, but instead ended up on the tracks. He jumped out of the car seconds before the northbound train collided with the automobile and burst into flames.
Neither the driver, nor any of the 500 passengers on the train, suffered any injuries, officials say.
All lanes were immediately shut down as a result of the crash. MTA employees worked throughout Wednesday night to repair the third rail of one of the lanes.
One lane remained open for Thursday morning?s commute.
