The medical examiner has ruled the death of a man in a parked car that burst into flames an accident.
Rafael Manzo died in the burning car Sunday in New Rochelle at around 5:30 a.m. The car was parked at Webster Avenue and Pine Street.
"We believe he went in there, probably fell asleep and the car caught fire," said Capt. Joseph Schaller. "We believe it's a mechanical malfunction."
Police say there's not a lot of information about the New Rochelle resident, other than that he lived at 219 Webster Ave. and routinely borrowed the car in the incident.
Investigators determined that Manzo died of smoke inhalation and say nothing suspicious was found inside the vehicle.
