Mask or no mask? Here's a list of where major retailers stand on mask policy
Here is a list of stores and their current mask guidelines.
- NOTE: Store mask rules vary based on state and the mask mandates they have in place.
Aldi: Face coverings are required for unvaccinated customers, and where required by state or local regulations. Effective May 26, ALDI employees who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to wear a face covering, unless specified by state or local jurisdictions.
Best Buy: Fully vaccinated customers are no longer required to wear face coverings at Best Buy stores, except where otherwise mandated by state or local order.
BJs: BJs says it "will no longer require fully vaccinated team members and members to wear face coverings, unless required by local or state regulations."  
Costco: Costco said "locations where the state or local jurisdiction does not have a mask mandate, we will allow members and guests who are fully vaccinated to enter Costco without a face mask or face shield."
CVS: CVS Pharmacy announced on May 17 that, consistent with the latest CDC guidance, customers who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear face coverings inside its stores, unless it is mandated by state or local regulations.  
Home Depot: The Home Depot also updated its mask guidance saying, "following the CDC’s recent announcements, customers and associates who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear masks or facial coverings in Home Depot stores, except where it’s mandated by state or local ordinances. Masks are still encouraged for those who aren’t fully vaccinated, and we’ll keep safety measures in place like enhanced cleaning and social distancing."  
Ikea: Ikea says in its website that their current mask and social distancing protocols will stay in place for the time being for their employees and customers.
King Kullen: “King Kullen currently requires that facemasks be worn by customers and employees. We are evaluating the situation and following the issue closely.”    
Kohl's: Kohl's announced that as of May 17, fully vaccinated customers were welcomed to shop with or without a mask. "We will continue to strongly recommend that non-vaccinated customers and associates wear masks in our stores," the statement said. 
Lidl: Based on new guidelines issued by the CDC, Lidl has instructed its stores to lift mask requirements for vaccinated customers immediately in all locations where legally allowed. 
Lowe's: Company says it will "align with the CDC's new guidance."
Starbucks: Starbucks says "facial coverings will be optional for vaccinated customers beginning Monday, May 17, unless local regulations require them by law."
Stop & Shop: “There have been no changes to Stop & Shop's mask policy in the state of New York, and Stop & Shop will continue to require that customers wear masks.”   
Target: Target says it will "no longer require fully vaccinated guests and team members to wear face coverings in our stores, except where it’s required by local ordinances."
Trader Joe's: Trader Joe’s said they won’t require vaccinated shoppers to wear a mask in U.S. stores, unless state or local laws say otherwise.  
Walgreens: Officials announced that stores will follow the CDC guidance when it comes to face masks, unless state or local mandates said otherwise.
Walmart: Walmart says "vaccinated customers and members are welcome to shop without a mask, and we will continue to request that non-vaccinated customers and members wear face coverings in our stores and clubs. We will update the signage in our facilities to reflect this."
Whole Foods Market: In accordance with guidance from the CDC and state or local mandates, Whole Foods customers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are welcome to shop in stores without a mask. The store requests that individuals not fully vaccinated continue to wear a mask for their safety and the safety of others. All Whole Foods Market team members continue to be required to wear face masks while in our stores.
Several major chains, said they are still requiring masks in stores for the time being, though some said they are reviewing their policies.
