A man who spent 16 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of murder is leading a march to Albany to rally for the rights of those who have been wrongfully incarcerated.
The 142-mile walk, led by Jeffrey Deskovic, started Sunday morning and made a stop at the Kiley Center in Peekskill Monday. The forum was hosted by the NAACP.
At 17 years old, Deskovic was convicted of the rape and murder of his Peekskill classmate and sent to prison. In 2006, DNA evidence proved Deskovic was innocent.
Deskovic says the march from Harlem to Albany is to seek legislative reform.
While in Albany, Deskovic plans to push for stricter prosecutor conduct and the videotaping of interrogations.
The group is expected to arrive at the state capital sometime next week.
