One person was rushed to the hospital after gunfire erupted in Melrose overnight. 

According to police, a man was shot in the leg on East 158th Street and Park Avenue at around 12:45 a.m. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, and is expected to be OK. 

It happened in front of the Andrew Jackson Houses and across from another large apartment complex. People living in the area say they aren't surprised by the violence and regularly hear shots being fired. 

Authorities have not yet made any arrests or identified a suspect, and it's not clear what led to the shooting.
