An Elmsford man is offering the community the opportunity to build a future through haircuts.
For months, Anthony Barton has provided free barber training and haircuts in Greenburgh.
"I decided to create this program to empower those people and provide everyone with a chance," he says.
Barton began his career when the hospital he worked at closed. He then went back to college, but his past caught up with him. Because he had served four years in prison for robbery at 17, Barton says his criminal record prevented him from getting a new job about 30 years later.
He decided to turn to the skill he learned behind bars, and began cutting hair for a living.
His dream is to open a barber training school in the Hudson Valley. Until then, he's offering his skills at Greenburgh Town Hall this summer.
