A former peace officer accused of bludgeoning a woman to death in New Windsor is standing trial for murder.
Luis Rondon allegedly killed 32-year-old Deborah Waldinger inside her Southgate Village apartment in 2019.
Authorities say the former Bridge and Tunnel Authority employee and Waldinger knew each other.
Prosecutors say evidence shows Rondon purchased the hammer used in the killing days before Waldinger’s death.
He is also seen on surveillance video buying bleach and protective gear at Walmart.
Rondon has pleaded not guilty.
His trial is at Orange County Court and is expected to continue through next week.
