A local Black Lives Matter mural has been vandalized in Mamaroneck - and it's not the first time.
Jarrett Winchester first rallied to have the Black Lives Matter mural painted in October, but it
was vandalized just days later, and now it's happened again.
Police found a can of paint lying on the ground and tire marks around the length of the mural.
They say the person threw the can of paint and then drove off.
Officers arrested a person for criminal mischief, but they're still investigating to confirm if the vandalism was intentional.
Winchester wants the person to be held accountable.
"I'm happy that they made a quick arrest, but the person should be prosecuted, and they should be made to come down and help paint this thing," says Winchester.
In a statement, Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy said in part, "I would hope this is classified as a hate crime and the full weight of the law is exercised against the culprits."
Murphy promises the mural will be repainted.
