Drivers are feeling a newfound freedom as gas prices across the nation continue to drop.
According to AAA, the national average is $1.78 per gallon, compared to just over $2 last year.
In Yonkers, News 12 found a BP station on Nepperhan below $2 for regular unleaded if the customer pays cash. The price was similar at a Citgo station on Saw Mill River Road and a Gulf station on Tuckahoe Road.
For people like Joe Fernandez, who drives about 20 miles a day, the savings make a big difference.
"One hundred dollars per week went down to $50, $60," he says. "Not bad at all."
