The search for a missing Hudson Valley New York Army National Guard sergeant is intensifying nearly two weeks after he was last seen in Poughkeepsie.
News 12 was with Nicolas Faust’s family and friends Thursday as they went door-to-door with fliers on Mill Street, where he disappeared after at a house party the night of March 23.
“We are just trying to find Nic,” says Faust’s cousin, Cheryl Andrew. “{I want to} put his face out there. Let people know we care and are looking for him.”
State police found Faust’s Nissan Rogue last Sunday in a parking lot behind the residence where the party was held.
Andrew says Faust lived in his car and that his personal belongings were still inside the vehicle. She says with each day that passes, she can’t help but think the worst.
“That someone killed him,” Andrew says. “That he’s dead somewhere.”
Andrew says surveillance video captured Faust walking down Mill Street, in the opposite direction of his car, but that the recording ended mid-way down the street.
“People just don’t disappear out of thin air. I just want to find him,” says Andrew.
Family say Faust is an identical twin and worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home in Peekskill. They’re asking anyone with information to come forward.
“Please, if anyone saw anything, something, and are afraid to say something do it anonymously. Let us know anything,” Andrew says.
State police say Faust was last seen wearing scrubs or cargo-style pants. They're asking anyone with information to contact them at 845-677-7300.
