Dozens of swimmers ranging in age from 15 to 75 crossed the Hudson River from Nyack to Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow on Sunday for the fifth annual Lighthouse Swim Sunday.

The fundraiser benefits Feeding Westchester, Soup Angels and the Nyack Center to help combat food insecurity in the region.

Organizers say the event was created after the Hudson River Swim for Life ended due to construction of the new Mario Cuomo Bridge that connects Westchester and Rockland counties.

The Lighthouse Swim has raised about $185,000 over the past four years.

Feeding Westchester says the need for food assistance continues to grow, with 41% of county households considered at risk.

Organizers say this year's event is on track to set a fundraising record.
