After more than two decades on the job, White Plains Department of Public Works Commissioner Bud Nicoletti's run has come to an end.
The city's common council voted 5-2 late Wednesday to remove Nicoletti. Council members announced the vote late in the afternoon.
After the vote, Nicoletti's supporters gave him a sympathetic round of applause.
Nicoletti had been the public works commissioner for 23 years. Council members did not give a reason for his removal.
"This decision was not made lightly, but I am confident it is in the best interest of the city and its residents," said White Plains Mayor Tom Roach. "I thank Commissioner Nicoletti for his years of service and wish him well."
