A beloved figure in New Rochelle's sports and political communities has died.
Joe Fosina died Tuesday at the age of 88, according to a local funeral home.
He was best known for his more than 50-year involvement with the New Rochelle Youth Tackle League, where he served as both coach and president. The city's youth football and soccer field is named in his honor.
Fosina also worked with the New York Yankees for decades, handling uniforms and equipment.
He served on the New Rochelle City Council for 11 years.
Fosina is survived by his wife, six children, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church.
