A Bronx hospital is getting some heat from patients and staff after claims that the emergency room is overcrowded and patients have long wait times.
A press conference was held on Thursday to discuss the issues at Montefiore's Weiler/Einstein Division Hospital. Patients and nurses say that some people are left on stretchers in the hallway for long hours and even days because there are no rooms available.
Nurses say the issue should have been taken care of years ago.
Hospital administrators spoke with elected leaders promising improvements.
Montefiore is also planning on developing an educational campaign to let community members know where they can access the best care.
Local leaders and administrators of the hospital says they will work together and revisit the situation in three months.
