A lockdown at Monhagen Middle School in Middletown was lifted after it received a bomb threat Friday morning, the district says.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus says the investigation into the threat is being handled by federal authorities.
Neuhaus says the Middletown School District sees a high volume of swatting incidents. Friday's incident marks the fifth phony threat since September.
Federal authorities say that Middletown has seen the worst case of swatting nationwide.
District administrators offered to meet with parents on the issue Friday afternoon at Maple Hill Elementary School, which was the target of another bomb threat on Tuesday.
Authorities are also investigating second bomb threat Friday in Orange County, this time at South Middle in Newburgh.
