A 1-year-old boy who was born at 24 weeks and weighing just over 1 pound is finally heading home from the hospital.

Grayson Butler left Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla to his home in the Bronx Wednesday at a weight of 20 pounds.

"The chances of Grayson living was 20%, so to see today is like a miracle," said his mother, Monae Harper. "I never thought today would come."

Harper went into labor about five months early. In Grayson's first weeks of life, he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and required 15 blood transfusions.

He suffered from low oxygen, chronic lung disease and had five bouts of pneumonia.

He spent time in several different hospitals before he was transferred to Blythedale Children's Hospital in January, where the journey took a different turn.

"They taught us to care for him, to live a normal life, even if he's trached or g-tubed," says Harper.
