Some parents who send their kids to an upscale Scarsdale school may be supporting a letter received Tuesday urging administrators to boot three city kids.
Hitchcock Weekday School administrators say the anonymous letter was sent to the three families and was circulating among others who attend the school. It specified that three children from Yonkers and Mount Vernon were not welcome there. The authors wrote that they did not want their children associating with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. The letter also expressed disdain for the school?s director, calling her a ?disgrace.? The note was signed ?Hitchcock Parents Association Members,? but the principal said no such organization exists.
Parents and school officials are expressing outrage and disgust at the letter?s contents. They say the school believes in diversity. The principal has contacted the police to let them know about the letter in case the situation escalates.
