Bronx residents had the chance to speak with a doctor Monday about cancer during an educational forum.
"Let's Talk Cancer" was held by Montefiore Hospital at the Justice Sonia Sotomayor Center. Dr. Fernando Camacho, director of the Community Oncology Program at Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care, led the talk.
Residents were able to get information about where and how they can receive medical access, what one can do to prevent cancer and how often they should get checked.
Camacho claims the numbers are high in the Bronx when it comes to cancer. He says educating the public is the only way for the amount of cancer cases to decrease.
Montefiore Hospital will have another "Let's Talk Cancer" event later this month.
