State lawmakers who represent the town of Ramapo in Albany are calling for the town's embattled supervisor to resign.
Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence was arrested last week by the FBI, accused of fraudulently moving around millions of dollars in town funds to get approval to build the baseball stadium in Pomona.
State Sen. David Carlucci, Rep. Ellen Jaffee and Rep. Kenneth Zebrowski say St. Lawrence should step down.
A joint statement by the lawmakers says in part, "The charges against Christopher St. Lawrence... if proven true, constitute an egregious breach of his oath of office, and the responsibilities of his position... To continue working in his current capacity only creates further distractions and is a grave disservice to the residents whose faith in their government must be restored."
St. Lawrence has not issued a response to the statement, but he returned to work on Friday and has said he is innocent.
He is due back in court April 21.
