Southbound lane closures on the Rockland County side of the New York State Thruway began Monday night.
The closures are to make way for the construction of the temporary toll system.
Beginning in the spring, tolls will be collected electronically. Drivers will be able to use an E-ZPass or opt to receive a bill in the mail.
An overhead gantry will be installed by the Exit 10 on ramp. The overnight lane closures will last until Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Drivers will then be directed to use the on-ramp at Route 59.
