Westchester entrepreneurs got a major assist from the New York Knicks Thursday night.
Former Knicks all-star Allan Houston took center court at the Business Council of Westchester's annual dinner in Tarrytown. The assistant general manager of the Westchester Knicks was promoting the team's new partnership with the council.
"I've lived in this area for 16 years and my kids go to school in Westchester," said Houston. "It's just a great community and I think people are just really excited about having some professional basketball here."
Another former Knicks all-star, John Starks, says teaming up was a no-brainer. County Executive Rob Astorino says having the D-league team play in Westchester is a slam dunk.
The New York Knicks' new development first decided to call Westchester home back in May. The team will play 25 home games this season at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, hoping to groom young talent into the NBA.
News 12 anchor Scott McGee emceed the evening's festivities.
The Knicks' season tips off on the road on Nov. 16. Their home opener at the Westchester County Center will take place on Nov. 19.
