A fire that investigators say started in the kitchen damaged a Peekskill restaurant Tuesday.
Officials say the fire broke out at the El Trigal restaurant around 2:15 a.m. Fire officials say there was heavy smoke coming from the building when they arrived and the fire was in the back by the kitchen. It took about 50 Peekskill firefighters 45 minutes to get the fire under control with the help of departments from surrounding communities.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to the connecting buildings.
Investigators are calling the fire accidental.
