Rockland County officials have named Aug. 17 “Kenneth Bermudez Day” in honor of a late 15-year-old from the community.

The North Rockland native died of a rare heart disease in February.

He was a proud member of the Rockland County Fire Explorer Post 44 and dreamed of becoming a firefighter.

County executive Ed Day recently joined the Stony Point Fire Department in welcoming Bermudez as an honorary member.
