It's hard enough for adults to fight their cravings and stay active during the holidays, but what about children?
Vanessa Wissing, a clinical dietician from the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, admits keepings kids healthy this time of year can be an uphill battle, but there are things you can do to help.
She says there are activities you can do indoors that don't involve video games, such as putting colored tape on the floor for hopscotch or coming up with a scavenger hunt.
Meal management is also important. Wissing recommends including kids in meal planning, which can heighten their interest in different good-for-you foods.
Also, try not to keep platters of food on the dinner table and let your little ones serve themselves because they are more likely to go for smaller portions.
