A sailing adventure that began in Florida back in January 2013 is making a stop in Yonkers.
Jim Greer and his crew on the Ra are sailing their solar-powered vessel on a 6,600-mile trip.
The 73-year-old set out from Florida last year hoping to break the distance record for a solar-powered vessel.
The custom-built 48-foot trimaran sleeps six, and is powered by 42 solar panels and batteries that can cruise for a half-day on a full charge.
Greer's trek follows the country's Great Loop waterway, including North America's East Coast, Florida's Gulf, the Great Lakes and other major rivers.
After Yonkers, the crew will head to Canada, Lake Michigan and Chicago. They will then go down the Mississippi to Mobile, Ala. and back to Greer's home in Florida by Nov. 15.
