A former Paralympian broke his own record Friday for the heaviest vehicle pull at Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford by pulling a 40-ton truck.
It is the fifth time Shane McLoughlin has broken the record.
To top off his trip to New York, he visited the Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade, where he then pulled a fire truck down a portion of McLean Avenue.
According to McLoughlin, the fire truck weighed a staggering 56 tons.
He says it's not just about breaking the record.
McLoughlin contracted gangrene while working on a farm over a decade ago.
He later had to have a partial leg amputation on his left leg during the summer of 2012.
McLoughlin hopes his story will shed a light on the strength and motivation that amputees possess.
"Show the people of America we can do what able-bodied people can do. You know? So, it's all over and done with now. I'm going home happy. I have a new Guinness World Record: 5 time," McLoughlin said.
Moving forward, he hopes the sport will become more prevalent, hopefully gaining it a spot in the 2028 Summer Olympics.
