Police believe speed may have been a factor in the single-car crash that killed an Iraq war veteran from Elmsford.
Police say 25-year-old Ricardo DaCosta was traveling northbound on Route 9A in Greenburgh Tuesday night when his car crossed into the southbound lane and slammed into trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene. DaCosta was an Iraq war veteran and had hopes of one day earning his living in radio and running a clothing business. He was on his way home from an internship at WFAS radio when the accident occurred.Friends returned to the scene of the tragedy to build a makeshift memorial and say goodbye. They remembered DaCosta as someone who always made people smile.
