Family and friends are bidding a final farewell later this morning to the two men killed in last week's deadly wrong-way crash on the NY State Thruway in Rockland.

Dozens turned out yesterday for the separate wake services held for New York City police officer Richard Christopher and James DeVito Jr., of Airmont.

Police say Christopher was driving the wrong way in Suffern when he collided head-on with a vehicle driven by DeVito. Witnesses tell police they saw Christopher make a deliberate U-turn to travel southbound in the northbound lane.

A police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, says there were no fellow officers in uniform at Christopher's wake because the off-duty cop was allegedly responsible for the crash. "We were told we were prohibited to wear our uniforms at his funeral out of fear it may attract negative publicity," says the officer.

Funeral services for both men take place at 11 a.m. today.
