Several hundred people gathered on the banks of the Hudson River at the Haverstraw Bay County Park to honor Rockland County residents who perished in the 9/11 attacks.
Family and friends of the 80 Rockland County residents who died say they still feel the pain, and go the park each year to remember.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day says gathering there each year to remember them is a responsibility everyone shares.
Among the family members attending the ceremony again this year were the parents of Welles Crowther, who is now known as the man in the red bandana. Crowther was in his office in the World Trade Center and helped save lives before being killed when the buildings collapsed.
While there were 80 Rockland County residents killed on 9/11, the memorial contains 81 names. Included among them is Robert Kirkpatrick, who was killed in the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993.
