Hundreds celebrate in Suffern to cheer on state hockey team champs

Hundreds of people celebrated in Suffern to cheer on the state championship hockey team.
The village held a parade Wednesday night to support the Mounties after the team won the state title Sunday In Buffalo against West Genesee.
It’s a special win for so many reasons, including senior Whill Thyberg, who fought a combination of COVID and mono for about a month. He still made it this past weekend to finals.
"It felt great to be able to end my senior year on such a high note when I thought I was not going to be able to get back on the ice," says Thyberg.
Thyberg says he’s still building back strength, but he just tried out for baseball - and he’ll be playing hockey for St. Thomas Aquinas in the fall.
