White Plains police say human remains were found in a car submerged in Muscoot Reservoir in Katonah.
Authorities say they are reopening a decades-old missing persons case as a result of the discovery.
News 12 is told the car matched the description of one related to the case. The human remains are now undergoing a forensic examination.
The car was found during a routine inspection of the reservoir by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection police, who manage New York City’s water supply.
