The first shrimp farm in Hudson Valley opened in Newburgh on Friday.
Jaean Claude Frajmund, owner of Eco Shrimp Garden, says Newburgh is the perfect place for sustainable farming.
"I got lucky to find this place and we are actually the first indoor shrimp farm, human indoor shrimp farm in the U.S. So we believe in this concept [of] growing shrimp inside of the cities," says Frajmund.
The shellfish are being grown using a special technology without chemicals, antiobiotics or hormones. The shrimp will be available all year long.
