Residents of Westchester and the Hudson Valley welcomed 2016 with the 15th annual White Plains New Year's Eve Spectacular.
At least 20,000 people celebrated in the White Plains downtown area.
The ball, which is 8 feet in diameter, slid down a crane as thousands of revelers welcomed the New Year with fireworks lighting up the sky and confetti pouring down.
Main and Court streets were closed for the big party, and this year there were new security measures in place.
Police had four security checkpoints set up for people who went into the ball drop area, and no large bags were permitted.
Heineken USA provided cab rides for those celebrating in downtown White Plains to anywhere in Westchester for free.
