Family and friends on are mourning the loss of a man who was both an Air Force sergeant and NYPD detective.
Wake services were held Tuesday for Technical Sgt. Joseph Lemm at the Saint Anthony of Padua Church in his hometown of West Harrison.
His body arrived Monday afternoon at Stewart Air National Guard Base as family, military and NYPD members stood by. A somber ceremony was held at the base after his arrival. After the tribute, Lemm's body was escorted by the NYPD to the Ballard-Durand funeral home in White Plains.
Lemm, who was based at the 105th Air Wing in Newburgh, was one of six Americans killed in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan last week. Lemm was on his third tour of duty overseas.
The 45-year-old leaves behind a wife and two children.
A funeral will be held Wednesday at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan at 10 a.m. Lemm will receive police and military honors. Cardinal Timothy Dolan will oversee the service.
