A teacher at a prestigious Chappaqua high school is accused of having inappropriate conduct with his students.
Christopher Schraufnagel, a performing arts teacher who has taught at Horace Greeley High School for more than a decade, hasn't been formally charged with any crimes, but the school district has placed him on leave.
The district released a statement that read, in part, that the "safety and security of our students is our top priority."
New Castle police confirm that an active investigation is being conducted with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
Many students have expressed disbelief over the news. "It is just sad to see something like this happen," said senior Matt Corso, who said all of Schraufnagel's students loved his acting classes.
News 12 tried to contact Schraufnagel at his last-known number, but the number was disconnected.
