The powerful storm that went through the Hudson Valley last night brought heavy rains and thousands of lightning strikes.
One of the bolts struck the roof of a house on Hill Avenue in Montgomery and started a fire.
Firefighters had to break through windows to clear the smoke, which started in the attic and spread through the house.
Two people inside the home at the time weren't injured and were allowed back inside.
