Two climbers were rescued on Hook Mountain in Nyack on Thursday.
Nyack fire officials say one of the climbers went off the trail while hiking on the mountain. The person called for help around 6 p.m.
Another person heard his call and went up to help him and dialed 911.
Rescue teams responded and brought both hikers to the bottom of the mountain by repelling slowly and carefully down the steep cliff.
Fire crews want to remind hikers to always stay on the marked trails when hiking. They also tell hikers to make sure that cellphones are charged. Batallion Chief Rich Scully, of the Nyack Fire Department, says the first hiker went up around 2 p.m. but his cellphone died shortly after.
Scully says hikers should also remember to bring enough water, as the first hiker was dehydrated.
News 12 has learned that the first hiker was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police have not said whether he'll be ticketed for going off trail.
