Snow lovers - while I would not get your hopes up for major snow on Monday, a coating to a couple of inches of snow are still possible. It is all dependent on the storm's track which will begin to become a clearer picture tonight and into the start of the weekend. The worst of this winter storm will actually be well south of the Hudson Valley this time. Whether you enjoy some snow or find it a nuisance, at this point, it is a good idea to plan ahead for what could be a slippery travel day on Monday even though this will not be a huge snowstorm locally.
If the track remains further to the south, the lower Hudson Valley would get hardly anything north of I-84 and up to a coating to two inches at worse closer to the coast.
If the track ends up a bit more north, there is an outcome that could bring up to four inches of snow. That is not the most favorable outcome at this time though!
Based on today's newest information, the actual outcome is probably closer to a coating to two inches of snow at worst, but that can be adjusted up or down a bit as better information comes in this evening and through the weekend. Please check the News 12 APP for frequent N12 Storm Watch updates all weekend long on the light snow chance for Monday.
Other than that, get ready to bundle up for a while! It will be mostly dry, breezy, and cold today with just an isolated flurry chance. Even colder weather is moving in this weekend. Highs today will be around 38 degrees, but it will feel like the 20s at times through the afternoon thanks to scattered wind gusts a little over 20 mph.
The weekend high temperatures will be in the low 30s and wind chills in the teens and 20s. That is because the wind can still gust up to around 30 mph.
After Monday's close call on some light snow, the colder feel continues! The rest of next week looks cold and breezy, but dry with highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s.
