Health care community holds rally to call for paid sick leave bill
Health care professionals and workers rallied today at the County Legislature in White Plains to support a proposed paid sick leave bill.
The Community Labor Coalition says the bill would allow people to take off work without the fear of losing pay or their jobs.
Legislator Catherine Borgia is a sponsor of the Employee Earned Paid Sick Leave bill, which would ensure that no one is forced to come to work sick. The bill comes at a time when one-third of Westchester's workforce is fighting through the flu season without any paid sick time.
If approved, employees would accumulate up to five paid sick days.
Legislators will vote for the bill in early spring.
