Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
District Attorney Dave Hoovler says Wayne Smith has been sentenced to 8 to 12 years in prison and Christian Shomo will spend 12 years behind bars. Both men were sentenced for their roles in narcotics trafficking. Smith had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Shomo pleaded guilty to operating as a major trafficker.
A man is facing charges for allegedly impersonating an NYPD officer in the town of Ramapo. Ramapo Police say a suspicious vehicle was parked in the driveway of a home in Montebello. They say the 24-year-old from Staten Island was wearing the NYPD sweatshirt and gun belt and had NYPD identification and a shield. Police say both the ID card and shield were fake. He's now charged with impersonating a public servant and possession of a forged instrument.
A former aide to former Gov. Andrew Cuomo has had his conviction overturned by the Supreme Court. Joseph Percocco, of South Salem, was convicted of taking more than $300,000 in bribes. The court ruled unanimously that the money came while he was managing the governor's re-election bid - not when he served as a top aide.He served four years in prison and a halfway house before being released last month. The U.S. Attorney's office declined to comment on the decision.
