Here are the stories that are making headlines today.
A former Newburgh business owner has been sentenced to four years for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Roberto Minuta was convicted for conspiring to go to Washington and breach the Capitol in an effort to prevent Congress from certifying the electoral college vote. According to prosecutors, Minuta wasn't initially at the Capitol, but sped over in a golf cart when he learned of the breach. They say once inside, he joined a crowd pushing against police.
A partner at a New York City law firm has been arrested in a sexual predator sting in Rockland County. Daniel Waxman allegedly had text conversations with an undercover investigator posing as a minor. He was charged with the attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors.
Robert Scores and Bobby's Towing of Poughkeepsie will have to pay penalties for illegally towing cars, overcharging, falsifying tow tickets and harming customers. A state Supreme Court ruling now bans Scores from the towing business unless he pays a $100,000 bond and $20,000 to the state in penalties. News 12 reached out to the attorney for the company but has not heard back.
