Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.

Poughkeepsie man faces felony charges for drug operation near elementary school. Joseph Parquet, a Poughkeepsie man, is accused of selling fentanyl and xylazine, according to the Dutchess County D.A. Mixing these two substances creates what is known as the "tranq" or "zombie drug." Police found Parquet near Clinton Elementary School with packaged fentanyl for sale and arrested him.

Holden Gioia, a Sullivan County man, is accused of leading state police on a chase that began in Putnam County and ended in Orange County. Police say a trooper saw a car involved in a hit-and-run crash on I-84 around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The trooper confirmed the car was stolen out of Brewster but was unable to stop it. The chase ended in Newburgh, and after a brief foot chase, the suspect was arrested. Gioia faces charges including possession of stolen property and unlawful fleeing of an officer.

Fire officials in Croton-on-Hudson responded to two house fires within a few hours of each other. They say both fires were equipment-related. Firefighters received a call about smoky conditions at a home on "Upland Lane" on Wednesday. Officials found a heating appliance started a wall fire. Then, 11 hours later, they responded to a fire on "Colabaugh Pond Road." Firefighters say an electrical component overheated in the hot water heater. The fire department is now warning people to keep up to date on smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and to call 911 if they notice a strange smell.
