A high-speed police chase that started in Goshen and ended in Queens ended with a teen in custody. Police say they tried to pull over an 18-year-old who was going 117 mph and weaving in and out of traffic on Route 17 on Sunday. Then, the driver got onto I-87, hitting speeds of 148 mph and got away. But the teen was eventually tracked down in Queens and was ticketed and charged with reckless driving.

A retired Sullivan County judge will not serve jail time in the reckless driving deaths of two teenage friends. Isaac Kantrowitz, 87, was sentenced Thursday to pay a $1,000 fine and a mandatory $88 surcharge. Kantrowitz was speeding when he struck and killed the 14-year-old and 16-year-old in 2019. The judge chose not to impose the maximum sentence, which included 60 days in jail. Kantrowitz is now prohibited from obtaining a driver's license. Prosecutors say the tragic case exposes serious inadequacies in state law when it comes to vehicular deaths.
