Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Montgomery man is facing charges for his alleged role in an elaborate $1.6 million crypto-currency scheme. Orange County prosecutors say Martin Soudani ripped off a family member he lived with between 2017 and 2022 using digital currency to conceal the theft. Soudani is charged with grand larceny and money laundering. Authorities say he was taken into custody in Colorado and brought back to New York for his arraignment.
A Yonkers woman was charged with trafficking fentanyl. Lorendy Diaz Beltre-DeInoa was charged along with a New Jersey man for their alleged roles in a trafficking conspiracy in New Jersey. The two were arrested while attempting a drug deal. The 27-year-old Yonkers woman was found with 1.5 kilograms of the deadly drug. She released with electronic monitoring and her alleged coconspirator has been detained. DeIona faces 20 years in prison and a fine of $1 million.
Police in Haverstraw are asking for your help to identify a man connected to string of larcenies from local vehicles. Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the released surveillance photo is asked to call Haverstraw police at (845) 354-1500.
