A long-awaited HBO miniseries chronicling desegregation in Yonkers during the late 1980s and early '90s will be airing this weekend.
"Show Me a Hero" is based on a 1999 book written by Westchester author Lisa Belkin. "The theme of the book is home and how this is really important to every single person," she says.
Much of the series was filmed right in the city itself.
The star-studded cast includes Oscar Isaac as former Yonkers Mayor Nick Wasicsko and Winona Ryder as former City Council President Vinni Restiano.
The first of six episodes will air Aug. 16 at 8 p.m.
