Hastings and Mount Vernon will play in the high school basketball championship game this weekend despite coronavirus concerns forcing their districts to close.

Hastings and Mount Vernon will play in the high school basketball championship game this weekend despite coronavirus concerns forcing their districts to close.
To ease people's fears, officials from the County Center and Section 1 are taking extra steps to make the games safe.

"The section is continuing to monitor and making sure that all steps that are taken are a proactive approach to insure the safety of our students and fans," says Section 1 Executive Director Todd Santabarbara.
Both schools are temporarily closed.

 The championship game is set for Sunday at 12 p.m.
