LGBT advocates are upset with a Halloween dress code at Eastchester High School.
In an email sent to parents, Principal Jeffrey Capuano stipulated that "students are not allowed to cross-dress."

The costume dress code caught the attention of the Empire State Pride Agenda who told News 12 policing gender expression has no place in the school system.
The Eastchester school superintendent says the rule was not designed to be discriminatory at all. In a written statement to News 12, Dr. Walter Moran says, "Let me be clear that any student has the absolute right to cross-dress any day or days, and the school respects that student's personal decision. In an effort to respect the race, religion and gender of our students, we believe that Halloween costumes should not make light of this."
The school also says students are also not permitted to wear masks or bring fake weapons as props to class.
