A group of businesses helped collect thousands of socks to be donated to people in need.
Master Networks is a nationwide network for business owners. Last month, the organization’s community service group held an event that collected nearly 10,000 pairs of socks from their members.
"I'm so proud of the group we have and the people we are surrounding ourselves with,” said Master Networks regional leader Tina Campbell.
Jay Cohen, of Advanced Security Consulting, is also responsible for a sizeable portion of donations due to his business connections.
"I was able to amass 490 dozen socks, which is 5,880 pairs. Almost 3,000 more than they collected last year,” he said.
Daniel Eudene, Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland’s executive director, decided to send most of those socks to Catholic Charities of New York in the city to help reach even more people.
The socks heading to the city will be distributed to five agencies over the next week.
"Knowing that the community at large is just so committed to helping is important,” said Eudene.
