Family and friends gathered at a ceremony Friday in Greenburgh to remember the 11 people lost in the 9/11 terror attack 14 years ago.
The tribute, held at Webb Field, featured a 21-gun salute and the lowering and raising of the American flag in memory of those who perished. There was also a 9/11 flag bearing the images of the twin towers and three stars representing the three planes hijacked by terrorists.
Joan Balkcom lost her sister, Sharon, on that day. "Her loss has devastated our family, her friends we miss her on holidays. We miss her during important events in our family's history," says Balkcom.
Residents of Greenburgh say they will never forget.
