The Greenburgh Police Department is working to equip their officers with body cameras in the near future.
Greenburgh Police Chief Christopher McNerney says the death of Eric Garner in Staten Island and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri have highlighted the need for officers to have body cameras.
He says he has already heard from several members of the community who support the idea. It's up to the town board to approve it.
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner says the $30,000 needed for the body cameras is being submitted into his capital budget.
He says they are also looking into seeing whether the federal government will provide a grant to pay for the cameras.
